So nowadays we are being bombarded with all the new, whizzy technology that’s pouring into the market. We now have smart homes, smart cars, smart phones, robots, smart watches, smart cities, smart meters etc. Furthermore, acquiring these devices appear to be the current indicator of social status, a sign of refined taste and evidence of technological savviness. However, unless you are intentionally harnessing the power of A.I. and blockchain to create, innovate and increase productivity, you will simply be reduced to a consumer. This is not a comforting prospect because those who aren’t leveraging the technology for something worthwhile and productive will be used and abused by it. Here are a few examples:
So what’s the solution. Here are a few suggestions:
Stop Jumping On The Latest ‘Smart Gadget’ Craze
It is not only expensive but the devices are evidently more fragile, less durable and emit a hundred times more radiation which is highly damaging to one’s health. Ever heard of the phrase, ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’? Therefore, if you already have a device that does the job, no need to take out a second mortgage or sell a kidney for a ‘supposed’ upgrade. If you already started to go a bit crazy in buying the latest ‘smart’ devices, it’s not too late to stop while you’re ahead and to even consider ‘downgrading’ to older, more reliable models.
Start Looking Into Boosting Your Security & Privacy Online And Across Devices
For those based in the UK, a really good website to explore for useful tips about secure online browsing and De-googled devices is Activist Toolbox. For those based in North America, a useful site is Above Phone. However, if in doubt, the next best option (which I personally prefer) is outlined below:
DO. NOT. COMPLY
I repeat…do not comply. Simple acts such as:
Paying with cash
Refusing to shop at supermarkets that have biometric cameras
Paying for your shopping at the till rather than at self-checkouts (again cameras)
Declining smart meters being fitted in your property or requesting that they be replaced with traditional ones
Avoiding stores that require an app to be downloaded before you can shop
Refusing to sign-up for Digital IDs or other digitized systems for driver’s licence, healthcare, travel etc.,
Requesting manual checks in place of walking through full-body scanners at airports (cancer-causing devices)
Insisting that you speak with a human being rather than an A.I. customer service agent etc.
These make a huge difference. We are at a crucial juncture in history where we can push back against these draconian changes before they take root. Otherwise, our children will lose out on freedoms that they never knew previously existed. Think this is untrue? Are you aware of the following freedoms that we lost to date?
So in closing, the next time you may be tempted to incorporate another SMART device, gadget or technology in your daily routine, be mindful of the following:
NUFF LOVE xxxx
